YouthROW – Aged between 13 – 21?
Rowing Queensland and the T&JCU Rowing Club have a program for you. The Rowing Queensland YouthROW Program is a program purely designed for Youth that have rowed before and wish to get back into a rowing squad.
Townsville Masters Rowing
The Masters rowing scene in Townsville is one of the strongest Masters Sports in the NQ Region. Masters Rowing is one of the stalwart aspects of the structure of the T&JCU RC; the Masters are just as competitive and serious about their training and racing as the younger members …. some more so! Many of the Masters are the Committee Members that guide the club forward, and their continued impressive results at regattas are the cornerstone of our reputation of being a strong and fiercely competitive club.
Open to all aged 27 and over and of any ability, this squad is as serious as it is social and welcoming. Occasional structured training ensure preparation for any level of regatta attended and also provides continued opportunities to experience the real enjoyment of rowing within a well tuned and harmonious team.
Townsville & JCU Rowing Club Regatta
T&JCU RC hold their annual Regatta around June/July each year. This regatta is the largest in numbers attending and seats raced in the North Queensland Region (Mackay through to Cairns); and the regatta in 2010 was no exception with over 130 competitors racing in all classes of boats covering over 700 seats entered! - raced over one and a half days with a race every 10 minutes and most races using all four lanes, this was a weekend regatta to be remembered. As well as Clubs from the region, Townsville Schools entered multiple crews, often in Club races as an added challenge above the usual school regatta season.
